MEMBERSHIP AND UPCOMING EVENTS
It's time to renew your membership in Shir Hadash for the coming year. In an effort to streamline the process and reduce the use of paper, all our forms are now available on Shul Cloud. Click here for detailed information. (If you prefer to use paper forms for your registration, please contact our office at 847 498 8218.) Please complete your renewal by July 31. If you need assistance, contact Executive Director Geoff Prass at info@shir-hadash.org.
Our next book will be The Hours Count, a novel by Jilllian Cantor. This work of historical fiction looks at the story of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg from the perspective of a neighbor who befriends Ethel.
Our book club meeting will be Wednesday, August 10, at the home of Lisa Burton Radzely in Lake Forest. We are planning to have a pot luck supper at 6:30pm, with our discussion beginning at 7:00pm. Please RSVP to Lisa at LisaLBRSH@gmail.com for details. For any other Book Club questions, contact Meryl Abensohn at abenkras@aol.com.

Mark your calendars for our annual Pot Luck Cookout on Sunday, August 28, at 4:00pm. It is a wonderful opportunity to visit with old friends and make ones. You can bring your relatives and friends too! This event is perfect for people who are thinking of joining Shir Hadash. Registration will be available soon so watch your emails, the newsletter, and the website for more information. Want to help plan the festivities? Contact Melanie Andes, fmandes@comcast.net.
Ayal Weiner-Kaplow Honored by JUF
Kol Hakavod to Rabbi Eitan and Dawn Weiner-Kaplow’s son Ayal, who has
just been named to the “Double Chai in the Chi: 36 Under 36” list of
influential young Jewish leaders in Chicago. Presented by JUF’s Young
Leadership Division (YLD) and Oy!Chicago -- an outreach website for Chicagoans in their 20s and 30s -- the list shines a spotlight on the faces of Chicago's Jewish
future and recognizes the amazing contributions of this generation. The young
professionals featured are noted for making a difference through their work,
giving back in their free time, and earning distinction in the Jewish community
and beyond. Read more about Ayal and his fellow honorees on Oy!Chicago.com. Mazel tov to the
entire Weiner-Kaplow family!
