
Sheleg, Sheleg! “Let It Snow” Fundraiser Now Through February 28 -- Donate to Shir Hadash and watch the P’teetay Sheleg “Snowflakes” fall throughout the synagogue. For every dollar you donate a snowflake will be hung in the synagogue. Click here to donate . FAC, Religious School and others will help create all shapes and sizes of snowflakes. Would you like to help from home? You can make your own snowflakes and drop them at the building.

Informational Zoom Meeting: Become a Weekly Volunteer with Afghan Refugees , January 7, 1:00 p.m. -- Want to help an Afghan family resettle in our area? We are looking for volunteers interested in providing in-person assistance once a week. There will be an informational meeting this Friday, January 7 at 1:00 p.m. on Zoom to share details and answer questions. Email Lisa Burton Radzely to get the Zoom link. If you are interested in volunteering but can't attend this meeting, we'll set up another time that works for your schedule.

Mussar Study Group via Zoom Thursday, January 13, 7:30 p.m. -- Members are welcome to join our monthly discussion of the practice of Mussar, a centuries old Jewish body of teachings and practices that provide distinctively Jewish answers to life's questions.

Israeli Movie Night Discussion via Zoom Saturday, January 15, 7:30 p.m. -- Join an interesting conversation about the Israeli film "Love & Dance," a 2006 film about the challenges faced by Russian Jews who immigrated to Israel at the end of the 20th century. Participants should watch the film prior to the conversation and then join our Zoom session. RSVP for the Zoom link.

MLK Day of Service At-Home and Drop-Off Activities, January 17 -- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on January 17 offers numerous opportunities to conduct tikkun olam (repairing the world) from home and by dropping off items. Your monetary or in-kind donations to local shelters, food pantries, and other nonprofits can help the homeless, animals, veterans, the environment, those facing food insecurity or domestic violence, and others in need. The organizations' website will pinpoint what types of support they need most. If you need assistance figuring out how to help, contact our Social Action Chair Lisa Burton Radzely.

Krafts & Kibitzing via Zoom Wednesday, February 2, 7:30 p.m. -- Crafters of all ages and abilities are invited to share their current projects via Zoom. We will discuss ideas, learn tips and tricks, and shoot the breeze, with break-out rooms for younger attendees. Register on the website.

Sign Up for Reconstructing Judaism Convention March 23-27 -- Rabbi Eitan and other Shir Hadash leaders will be attending the Reconstructing Judaism Convention in person March 23-27. You can join in, either in person or online! We will learn from and with experts, scholars and lay leaders as we will pray, sing, dance, and celebrate all that we can do in our communities to reconstruct Judaism.

Soap Sack Collection Continues -- Thanks to everyone who made such lovely soap sacks. Our latest batch was donated to the Chicago Lights Social Service Center, PADS homeless shelter, and the Lincoln Park Community Services Center. We will be wrapping up this project in January. Please keep creating and drop off any additional soap sacks in the drop box between the front doors of the synagogue. For any questions, reach out to Wendy Kopulsky.
