Creative Worship and Ritual
No Shabbat Services this Week
We have no
scheduled for services October 24-25. Enjoy Shabbat with your family, and feel
free to join us for adult ed classes on Sunday morning. See below for more
information.
Simchat Torah Highlights
We had an
outstanding turnout for our celebration of Simchat Torah on Friday, October 17.
It’s always inspiring to see the Torah scrolls unwound in all their glory.
Several of the students from our current bar/bat mitzvah class were present and
had the opportunity to stand next to the portion they will read at their
services. Everyone sang and dance to the music of our own Shir Hadash Mighty
Klezmorim, and enjoyed treats of the season at our oneg. It was a spectacular
end to the holidays. Enjoy the photos!
Volunteer Opportunities

that interest you. Click here to learn more about the variety of options available. Your participation will
help make it a night to remember – for Rabbi Eitan, and everyone!
SHOP Needs You!
Our ongoing,

12:30? Click here to sign up for a day of your choice on Shul Cloud, or contact

Soup Kitchen Help Needed, November 9
On Sunday,

“Vote, Vote,
Vote”
Dear
Friends,
In last
week’s Torah portion, Adam ate the apple, God found out, and Adam hid saying,
“It wasn’t my fault.”
In this
week’s portion, Noah was told about the upcoming flood that would destroy the
world, and he quietly built an ark to save his family, some animals, and
himself.
In next
week’s portion, Abraham will learn of the impending annihilation of Sodom and
Gemorah, and he will voice an opinion and push back. Abraham will argue with God to save the
cities if there should be 50 or 45 or 30 or 20 or even 10 righteous individuals
present.
Adam
concealed himself. Noah went along with
the program. Abraham spoke up. Thus, our tradition honors Abraham, the
founder of our Jewish tradition, because he argued and was willing to confront
even God in his pursuit of justice.
Abraham voted! …
