Tomorrow: 
Pausing in the Wilderness Service (Hybrid: In-Person & Zoom), Friday, April 8, 7:00 p.m. - Join our community’s special way of welcoming Passover.  Through story and song, we will celebrate our ancestors’ deliverance from Egyptian slavery. We will gather as a desert encampment on the floor of our sanctuary. Space is limited; to participate in person, use the event page to RSVP. 


Next Friday: No Shabbat Service on April 15 -- We hope you enjoy observing the first night of Passover with family and friends!

“The Lesson of Difficult Times”
 
Dear Friends,
 
Is there blessing to be found in difficulty?  In this week’s Torah portion, we learn about skin diseases, such as leprosy, and fungal infections that can affect people and articles.  Of course, this creates great fear.  Those afflicted are to be put in isolation until the situation either heals or gets worse.  Washing in a mikveh and waiting to see what transpires are the proscribed treatments.  Is there any connection between this Torah portion and this Shabbat, called “Shabbat Hagadol – The Great Shabbat” preceding the celebration of Passover? ...

MEMBERSHIP NEWS & EVENTS




Step Up! Volunteers Needed -- Our voluntary commitment model asks each person to donate both financially and of themselves.  We are asking each member to commit to participating on a committee, task force, or project. We cannot afford to bring on professional staff to do all the work. A few of our greatest current needs include: 
*Marketing and Communications - help is needed for our electronic sign, website, Facebook, etc.  
*Social Action - needs a new chairperson
*B'nai Mitzvah Coordinator - to work with our families
*Task Force to honor Rabbi Eitan

Passover Food Deliveries, Sunday, April 10, 9:30 a.m. 
- Volunteers are needed to deliver Passover care packages to those in need.  The delivery will be on Sunday, April 10 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.  Maot Chitim provides the packages.  We will meet to deliver the packages at an apartment complex in Wheeling.  Please contact Mark Lenhart if you would like to help – 847-502-2185 / mclenhart@gmail.com.


Mussar Discussion Group: No Meeting on April 14 - The Mussar group will not meet in April due to Passover. The next Zoom meeting will be May 12 at 7:30 p.m. Contact Lynn Liebling at lliebling@sbcglobal.net or Kayla Shonberg at klashon74@gmail.com to learn more. 



Book Club Discusses The Matzah Ball  (Zoom), Thursday, April 21, 7:30 p.m. - Join the book club for a virtual conversation about this novel by Jean Meltzer. See the event page for book details and to RSVP. 


MOSH/WISH Bingo Night, Saturday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. - Men of Shir Hadash and Women in Shir Hadash invite you to a virtual Bingo Event, led by Chana Sulpar and Abby & David Edler. And, of course, there will be prizes! Register on the event page for the Zoom link and to receive your digital bingo card.


Memorial Wall Spaces Available -- We have plenty of room to remember your loved ones in perpetuity on our Memorial Wall. Each plaque ensures that the name of your loved one will be read on his or her yahrzeit, that the light will be lit at Yizkor four times a year, and that you will be mailed an annual notification prior to the appropriate date.

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

 
Sunday School Schedule: School will be in session as usual April 10. Classes will not be held on April 17 due to Passover.
