Friday: Multigenerational Shabbat with Auf Ruf Wedding Blessing (Hybrid: In-Person & Zoom), April 1, 7:00 p.m. -- We encourage all generations to enjoy a Shabbat service with music, story, and Torah reading. We will read from the Torah and bless a young couple, Mark Weiss and Amanda Silberstein, as they prepare for their wedding day.  The 6th and 7th Graders will assist in leading the service.


Next Week: 
Pausing in the Wilderness Service (Hybrid: In-Person & Zoom), April 8, 7:00 p.m. - Join our community’s special way of welcoming Passover.  Through story and song, we will celebrate our ancestors’ deliverance from Egyptian slavery. We will gather as a desert encampment on the floor of our sanctuary. Space is limited; to participate in person, use the event page to RSVP.

How do we show our commitment to our people and our tradition? This Shabbat, we begin the springtime month of Nisan, the month of Passover. This is considered the first month of the year.  It is the month of our liberation and the month when we reaffirm our commitment to God, our people, our Jewish values, and our community....

MEMBERSHIP NEWS & EVENTS




Step Up! Volunteers Needed -- Our voluntary commitment model asks each person to donate both financially and of themselves.  We are asking each member to commit to participating on a committee, task force, or project. We cannot afford to bring on professional staff to do all the work. A few of our greatest current needs include: 
*Marketing and Communications - help is needed for our electronic sign, website, Facebook, etc.  
*Social Action - needs a new chairperson
*B'nai Mitzvah Coordinator - to work with our families
*Task Force to honor Rabbi Eitan

Board Nominations Now Open: Respond by April 1 --  As a Board member, you can play a significant role in shaping Shir Hadash’s future.  We are seeking candidates for the following positions:
·         Secretary (2-year term)
·         Treasurer (2-year term)
·         Vice-President for Building Operations (2-year term)
·         Vice-President for Education (2-year term)
·         At-Large Board Members – 4 needed (2-year term)

Krafts & Kibitzing (Zoom), Wednesday, April 6, 7:30 p.m. - Crafters of all ages and abilities are invited to bring in their current projects via Zoom. We will share ideas, learn tips and tricks, and shoot the breeze. Break-out rooms are available for our 17 years and younger set. RSVP on the event page. 


Passover Food Deliveries 
- Volunteers are needed to deliver Passover care packages to those in need.  The delivery will be on Sunday, April 10 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.  Maot Chitim provides the packages.  We will meet to deliver the packages at an apartment complex in Wheeling.  Please contact Mark Lenhart if you would like to help – 847-502-2185 / mclenhart@gmail.com.


Mussar Discussion Group (Zoom), Thursday, April 14, 7:30 p.m. - Mussar is a centuries old Jewish body of teachings, a perspective, and a disciplined practice. Book Club Discusses The Matzah Ball  (Zoom), Thursday, April 21, 7:30 p.m. - Join the book club for a virtual conversation about this novel by Jean Meltzer. See the event page for book details and to RSVP. 


MOSH/WISH Bingo Night, Saturday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. - Men of Shir Hadash and Women in Shir Hadash invite you to a virtual Bingo Event, led by Chana Sulpar and Abby & David Edler. And, of course, there will be prizes!
