Friday: Multigenerational Dinner & Service of Reflection, Consolation & Support (Hybrid) July 8, Dinner 6:00 p.m., Service 7:00 p.m. -- Our Shabbat outdoor service will be a gathering of solidarity and support as our community copes with the aftermath of the Highland Park shootings. For those who have registered for the pre-service dinner, we'll begin at 6:00 p.m. with blessings and a BBQ cookout. The multigenerational service will follow at 7:00 p.m., and afterwards we will continue our time together around the campfire. Join us in person or by Zoom.

Next Week: Shabbat Evening Service (Zoom), July 15, 7:30 p.m. -- "Shabbat Service Pillars Series"-- Join Rabbi Eitan Weiner-Kaplow on an exploration of the Aleynu prayer including its structure, its history, and some innovative interpretations of the ancient prayer for contemporary times.

Security Team Needs Volunteers --
 Shir Hadash has a security action plan and equipment. We were talking about implementing training and did a bit before Covid hit. Now, it’s time to get back to implementing our plan. Schaumburg Boomers Baseball with Shir Hadash, Sunday, July 10, 1:00 p.m. -  See a great game and raise some money for the shul! Join us and see the Boomers take on the Windy City Thunderbolts. We’ll sit together on the lawn. Bring your own chairs, blankets, and strollers. Tickets are $11 for adults and children 2+ (children under 2 years are free). 


Membership Renewal Opens July 12--  Be on the lookout for an email on Tuesday, July 12 with a link to enable you to renew your membership and to enroll your children in religious school. 


New Singers Welcome!  
Lahaka High Holidays Rehearsals Start Wednesday, July 27, 7:00 p.m. -- Shir Hadash's adult choir the Lahaka returns in-person for this year's High Holidays, under the direction of Marek Rachelski. We’d love to have you participate. We provide sheet music and learning tracks for all members. The first rehearsal will be on July 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Shir Hadash.  Contact Maggie Cain, magcain@mac.com for more information.


Save the Date! Poolside BBQ Bash, Saturday, July 30, 6:00 p.m. -- Mark your calendar for a fun evening of dining and schmoozing, hosted by Mehran Farahmandpour. JCFS Highland Park Grief Support --  As we continue to process and begin to grieve the tragic events in Highland Park, JCFS is offering resources and programs for you, your family, and anyone looking for support. The JCFS Chicago "Warm Line" is available to provide assistance for anyone affected by the Highland Park shooting who does not have an urgent need and is looking for someone to talk to about their emotional distress. Call the warm line to connect to an emotional support professional between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Fridays at (855) 275.5237.

ADULT EDUCATION

Lunch and Learn with the Rabbi --  The Rabbi's weekly discussion group is on summer hiatus and will resume August 11.

Virtual Adult Ed Sunday Morning Programs:
  Adults are welcome to join in the following adult education programs on most Sundays:

  • Hebrew Reading: The class will not meet on Sunday, July 10. Beginning on July 17, we will focus on reading prayers for the High Holiday.
